01 / What it is

According to The Racing Collective, GBDURO is a 2,000 km self-supported bikepacking enduro following the GBDIVIDE from Land’s End to John o’Groats. The unofficial tagline they quote: “a scrappy rolling picnic through Britain’s ever changing landscapes.”
Format notes
Stages, then experiments.
Traditionally the ride used four timed stages of roughly 500 km each; lowest aggregate time “wins… nothing.” From 2024 onwards The Racing Collective has experimented with a single-stage format. The 2024 edition finished at Cape Wrath; 2025 and 2026 returned to the traditional John o’Groats finish as single-stage events (per organizer notes).

Inaugural edition
First GBDURO. The Collective notes Lachlan Morton’s involvement brought wider attention; the GBDIVIDE route was christened that year.
Self-sufficient (COVID)
Run in a self-sufficient format (not standard self-supported): single stage, riders carrying food, avoiding commercial services including accommodation, and carrying non-biological waste to the finish. #noflyride introduced.
Four-stage return
2021 returned to four stages; organizer notes highlight strong women’s results. 2022 and 2023 continued the multi-stage era; 2023 described as the most international field yet.
Single-stage experiments
2024: single-stage, Cape Wrath finish. 2025: single-stage to John o’Groats. Bikepacking.com listed the 2025 start as 9 August 2025 from Land’s End (~2,002 km on that listing).
Eighth edition concluded; results pending
The Racing Collective states #gbduro26 started from Land’s End at 8am on Saturday 15 August 2026 as a single ~2,000 km stage; the last rider finished 30 August. Official results are to be published by the end of September once tracks are verified. DotWatcher hosts tracking/commentary pages — treat leaderboards there as provisional, not official.
